Have you ever wondered what photographers do during their “off shooting season”? It’s a funny question, but something that Cindy and I get asked quite a bit. Let’s face it, here in the North Country of Upstate New York, who wants to have their Senior Portrait Experience done in the middle of winter? This year Cindy and I are hoping to expand our shooting season and do some senior portraits in the winter:
In the meantime (and back to the original question at hand), what do we do during our “so-called off season”? First, it’s a great time to catch our breath and reflect on the sessions we did. Cindy and I think about each session and talk about what we really liked, what we think we would change up for another shoot, what prints did our client order, and what products did they ask for that we might want to include in our packages for next year. So many ideas that it’s actually hard to turn the brain off sometimes!
Last year we created a custom brochure for our clients
as well as a Welcome Guide that each client received during their consultation. We are excited to be putting our guide up as a Digital Magazine so we can email it to potential clients. (Stay tuned for a preview - and another blog post).
This year we have already modified our logo
attended several educational training sessions through Creative Live and are busy working on a new program that we will announce in the New Year.
Finally, the cold weather means Indoor Portraits! We love taking indoor portraits as well as on-location shoots. Concept shoots, lighting practice, and traditional portraits are just some of the types of indoor photography we enjoy doing:
